Watering Times Have Changed: Plano
Adopts New Watering Schedule Stage 3 Water Restrictions
Continue
Mar. 23, 2007
Plano’s water distribution system is
continually monitored by the Public Works
Department. Utility Operations is
responsible for ensuring a steady and
adequate supply of water to all customers in
Plano. During the Stage 3 watering
restrictions that have been in place for the
past 10 months, refilling the water storage
tanks each day has sometimes been a
challenge.
After careful consideration, a new Stage 3
water use schedule has been adopted to
better maintain water system operations
throughout the City during drought
conditions. Water customers will now be
allowed to water their landscape twice per
week. Each address will be able to water in
the morning on one day (2 am – 10:00 am) and
about 3 days later will have the opportunity
to water again in the evening (6 pm – 10
pm). Watering is prohibited between the
hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm as well as
10:00 pm – 2:00 am. In addition, a new
geographic Zone 6 has been established for
the east side of town. A new Watering Zone
Map has been developed and will be sent to
every water customer in Plano in the next
few weeks. The map can be viewed
here.
“Even though this decision was based
primarily on our distribution system, this
amendment will give greater flexibility to
the citizens as they cope with the drought”,
cites Lorrie Reeves, Water Education
Coordinator for the City of Plano.
Detailed
information is being sent to each Plano
water customer during the next 30 days.
Please be advised there is NO landscape
watering on Sundays.
