Long before
babies can speak, they can learn to communicate by
using American Sign Language signs. WeeHands
instructors have taught more than 5,000 families and
caregivers communication skills using songs and
activities. A free introductory training session
will be held at Davis Library, 7501-B Independence
Parkway, on Saturday, April 21 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Pre-registration is required by calling (972)
208-8000.
Babies at six to eight months old can learn sign
language as easily as they learn to wave “bye-bye”
or lift up their hands to signal “pick me up.”
Frustration levels of both parents and babies are
eased when babies can sign when they want milk, when
their teeth hurt or when they need a diaper change.
Parents don’t have to guess anymore why their babies
are crying!
This program provides an introduction to American
Sign Language vocabulary, songs and language
development strategies for babies, toddlers and
preschool children.
