Green ‘n’ Clean Garage and Get on the Bus Tour Helps Residents Live Green and Save Money

The place to learn about toxin-free pest management, water conservation, compost techniques and chemical-free household cleaners is the City of Plano. Learn to live green and save green at the Green ‘n’ Clean Garage Grand Opening and Get on the Bus Tour beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, June 30 at Parkway Service Center, 4120 W. Plano Parkway at Commerce St..

Free and open to the public, the Green ‘n’ Clean Garage is an interactive, walk-through exhibit geared to educate residents about green purchasing choices and decisions they can make related to organic gardening alternatives, recycling, composting, bio-friendly pest control and water harvesting. The event will begin with the dedication of this permanent feature located next to the Household Chemical Reuse Center.
After a tour of the water-conserving gardens at the Environmental Discovery Center, buses will be available for the second tour in the “Get on the Bus” series. The tour will focus on residential water conservation and irrigation techniques and plant material for saving money and growing an attractive lawn and garden. Three homes will be included on the tour showcasing a variety of Texas-smart landscaping and irrigation alternatives.

“The City of Plano encourages residents to Live Green in Plano and provides a variety of activities throughout the year to educate people how to live green, work green and save green,” said Heather Merchant, supervisor, Environmental Education and Community Outreach. “The Green ‘n’ Clean Garage complements our programs and gardens with a hands-on approach to educating people about environmentally-friendly pest management and yardcare.”
