Foundation’s ‘Ski Plano’ Event Guarantees
‘Extraordinary Evening on the Mountaintop’
15th Annual Fundraiser to Support Students & Staff
Bundle up in your favorite ski sweater and jeans to join the Plano community for “An Extraordinary Evening on the Mountaintop” at Ski Plano 2011, a fundraiser to be hosted by the Plano ISD Education Foundation. The 15th annual event, which benefits Plano ISD students, staff and programs, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Southfork Ranch in Parker.
Pictured above are Foundation President Michael Urtso, Ski Plano Chair Joa Muns, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto and Foundation Executive Director Monica Shortino.
Ski Plano Chair Joa Muns, Co-Chair Rebecca Egelston-Caso and the Ski Plano Committee will host more than 900 guests including business and community leaders, district officials, administrators, parents and teachers.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Muns, who also serves on the Foundation Board, Ski Plano will offer an evening of fun and games with a definite purpose — to focus attention on the community’s opportunities to support academic achievement for all Plano ISD students through support of the Foundation.
“Ski Plano is one of the largest events in Collin County,” said Mrs. Muns. “It is a casual and fun event that is enjoyable for everyone. More importantly, it provides funds for important programs that help enhance the education of all children.”
Singer and songwriter W. T. Greer, a 1981 graduate of Plano Senior High School, will perform several songs and serve as emcee. His work, which has been heard around the world, is synonymous with class and romance and he is known as the Nat King Cole of the new generation.
The Mars Hill band will return to perform at Ski Plano 2011.
The evening’s activities will feature opening music by Custer’s Last Band, a seated dinner, dancing to the music of Mars Hill, silent and live auctions and the Neiman Marcus Avalanche raffle with four fabulous prizes. Live auction items will include the following:
- Lexus Model Sampler 12-month lease donated by Park Place Lexus.
- Super Bowl Party package for two.
- two VIP tickets to a live taping of Dancing with the Stars.
- Willow Bend Shopping Extravaganza.
- Maggiano’s Wine Dinner for 12.
- Game Night in the Capital One Suite for a Dallas Stars game.
- Napa Wine Country VIP Tour.
Joa Muns, event co-chair, is pictured at Ski Plano 2010 with her husband John and his parents Betty and James Muns, who hosted a Ski Plano 2011 gift giving launch event at their home last month.
The firm of Gay, McCall, Isaacks, Gordon and Roberts is returning as the Aspen Sponsor. James and Betty Muns are Sun Valley sponsors. Vail Sponsors are Capital One; Texas Instruments; Innovative Solutions for Education; and Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd and Price, P.C. and Verizon.
