On March 1, 2011, the City of Plano Building Inspections department will begin operating under the 2009 International Codes (I-Codes). The transition will hold new construction projects and renovated properties to the latest standards protecting the health, safety and welfare of our community. The change will apply to both commercial and residential properties, and will mostly impact new construction. Most day-to-day homeowner maintenance projects such as water heater installation or fence replacement will not be impacted. I-codes are reviewed every three years.
