PLANO — Plano police have arrested the man they say is behind a recent string of convenience store robberies. The robberies occurred from Sept. 7 and Sept. 16 between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 4 a.m.
Joshua Kane Gutierrez, 20, of Plano was arrested Tuesday night and has been charged with aggravated robbery. He is being held at the Collin County Jail on $100,000 bond. Officer David Tilley said Gutierrez was caught after an extensive investigation, which was aided by businesses that were robbed.
“Most of our businesses work well with us,” Tilley said. “Most have surveillance video, which is critical in assisting us in solving these crimes. We count on our local businesses to provide as much info as possible so we can complete our investigation as quickly as possible and end the case with a conviction.”
Gutierrez is accused of robbing four separate 7-11 stores, as well as one Exxon store. Tilley said in at least four of the cases Gutierrez brandished a firearm, but no reports have been received about anyone being injured during the robberies.
