A 48-year-old Frisco man accused of murdering a Pilates instructor on April 19 is now in the Coconino County Jail in Flagstaff, AZ., awaiting extradition back to Collin County.
Terrance Black was named by several friends of the victim, Susan Loper, as a prime suspect after she was abducted from the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano. A Plano police officer located her body in a Frisco field the following day.
Black left Texas and headed west. On April 22, he was approached by park rangers following a report that he was panhandling at the Grand Canyon. According to reports, Black jumped over a rail into the Grand Canyon. What could have been a 1,400-foot fall was stopped by a ledge at 25 feet. Black sustained various injuries from the fall and spent several days under heavy guard in a Flagstaff hospital before being transferred a few days ago to the Coconino County Jail.
A spokesperson at the Plano Police Department said Plano detectives have been in Flagstaff for several days working on the extradition of Black back to Texas. Black is expected to be placed in the Collin County Detention Center on charges of capital murder, with a bond set at $1 million.
A spokesperson at the Coconino County Jail said dates and times of the transfer of inmates are not made available to the public.
Black was a former boyfriend of Loper and reportedly was upset because she had chosen to end the relationship.
Loper, 40, was a graduate of a Wichita Falls High School. Friends both from high school and in Frisco and Plano remembered her as a kind, caring, woman who should have had no known enemies.
A memorial service for Loper was conducted Wednesday afternoon at Hope Fellowship in Frisco.
